The
nominees for the 2015 Laureus Awards have now been confirmed, with the
winners to be announced at a ceremony held on 15 April in the Chinese
city of Shanghai. Real Madrid have been nominated in the World Team of
the Year category, while Cristiano Ronaldo is a candidate for World Sportsman of the Year and James Rodríguez is up for World Breakthrough of the Year.
The Whites, who won their tenth European Cup in Lisbon, as well as being holders of the European Super Cup and Club World Cup, will compete for the accolade with the European Ryder Cup Team (golf), the Germany Men's Football Team, the Mercedes Formula One Team, the San Antonio Spurs (NBA) and the Switzerland Davis Cup Team (tennis).

The Colombian player, who scooped the Golden Boot at the 2014 World Cup, will battle for the World Breakthrough of the Year award with Mario Götze (football), Daniel Ricciardo (Formula One), Mikaela Shiffrin (skiing) and the Switzerland Davis Cup Team (tennis).
