Cristiano Ronaldo no match for Messi, says Nadal

Former Barcelona defender Miguel Angel Nadal believes Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo is nowhere near the same level as Lionel Messi.

The Argentine forward played a key role in Barcelona's successful 2014-15 campaign as he guided them to the treble with a string of sublime performances.

Tech: Travel jacket does 15 things at once

Here's a jacket that could very well be the Swiss Army Knife of travel wear -- it's got 15 features.

"This is the travel jacket you always needed, but never existed," said Hiral Sanghavi, co-founder of BauBax, which is making the jacket.

With a prototype ready, the startup began its Kickstarter campaign Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. to raise $20,000 to launch the jacket later this year. It hit that target in just over 5 hours.

"I'm thrilled to see how well this product has resonated with people from all over the world," Sanghavi said.
The travel jacket is designed with multiple hidden functions that promise to make commuting of any sort more comfortable and hands-free.

Tech: 9V battery makes your smoke detector so much less annoying

If there's one dumb device in your home worth making smart, it's your smoke detector.

It chirps when your battery is low (inevitably at 3 a.m.), it goes off when you're making stir-fry, and you have to stand on a chair or get out a dish towel to silence it. Most importantly, if there's a real emergency when you're away from home, there's no way for you to know about it.

Tech: Firefox blocks Flash, and Facebook calls for its death

Adobe Flash, the much-loathed, bug-plagued relic of a browser plugin, just got a big nail driven into its coffin.
Mozilla blocked Flash by default in its Firefox browser late Monday night, a day after Facebook's (FB, Tech30) security chief called for Adobe to kill Flash once and for all.

The Flash-bashing picked up last week after revelations that the spyware giant known as the Hacking Team had been using Flash to remotely take over people's computers and infect them with malware. (That discovery took place after the Hacking Team was itself hacked. Documents revealed in the breach showed that the Hacking Team exploited two critical vulnerabilities in Flash's code.)

Breaking News: Facebook goes after Facegloria

Some folks find a lot of Facebook posts offensive, so a group of evangelical Christians in Brazil have put together a good-news-only Facebook copycat called Facegloria.
The real Facebook (FB, Tech30) isn't happy, and sent a cease and desist letter warning that the company is infringing on its trademark and could create consumer confusion.
"Like any company, we have to protect our brand," a Facebook spokesperson told CNNMoney.
Facebook, which has 1.2 billion active users, lets users hide and report content they find offensive.
Facegloria has attracted 100,000 users since it launched in June, and sees Brazil's growing evangelical population as a huge market opportunity. It has banned over 600 words, erotic content, violence and, in a country that legalized same-sex marraige two years before the United States did, any reference to homosexuality.

The Japanese conglomerate has hired a third-party committee to investigate past book-keeping practices which sources say led to profits being overstated by more than 170 billion yen. That's more than triple Toshiba's initial estimate of around 50 billion yen.
