Breaking News: Explosion kills 1 in Yobe state

An explosion rocked Arikime Primary School playing ground in Potikum, Yobe state around 6pm yesterday Dec. 28th, killing a sugar-cane vendor who was heading home after the day’s trading.

Residents of the area say they believe the bomb was targeted at football enthusiast who gather at the school playground every morning to play football. No group has taken responsibility for the attack but then again...how many terror groups are we fighting in Nigeria?

Cristiano Ronaldo did not fail to get on the scoresheet in any of the 14 La Liga fixtures that took place in the Bernabéu during 2014. His numbers are as extraordinary as they are praiseworthy. In fact, he has scored 23 times during these games (an average of 1.7 per game). During this time, Barcelona, Celta and Rayo are the rivals he has hit the mark against in the most amount of games, two apiece. Athletic, Elche, Atlético, Córdoba, Valencia, Osasuna, Levante and Granada are the remaining sides who have suffered at his hands.

The Portuguese man has also become the first Real Madrid player to score in all seven of the opening home fixtures during a La Liga season. He has racked up 14 goals during the 14-15 campaign so far (two per game). His four against Elche as well as his hat-tricks against Athletic and Celta on the last championship game of the year in the Bernabéu were unforgettable.

Photos: Air Asia flight carrying 162 from Indonesia to Singapore goes missing

An Air Asia flight carrying 162 people - 155 passengers, two pilots, four flight attendants and one engineer, which took off from the city of Surabaya in Indonesia and bound for Singapore, lost contact with air traffic control about two hours after take-off, while flying over the Java Sea.

The passengers included 138 adults, 16 children and one infant according to a statement released by AirAsia following the disappearance of the plane.

Indonesia's acting director general of transportation, said the last contact between pilot and the air traffic control was at 6.13 a.m. on Saturday) “when the pilot requested permission to deviate from its submitted flight plan route due to weather condition."

There was vigorous thunderstorm at the time. It's been hours now since the plane went missing and there has been no update on the plane's whereabouts.  Continue...
