Carlo
Ancelotti is making history at Real Madrid. In just a season and a
half, he has already won four trophies with the Whites. With the Italian
in the dugout, the fans are enjoying attacking football in every match,
translating into goals and entertainment. With 159 in 53 Spanish
top-flight encounters, he boasts the highest goals-per-game average
(three) of the more than 300 coaches who have taken charge of at least
30 matches in La Liga.
Last season, Madrid ended the league campaign as the most prolific team,
with 104 goals. Added to that figure are the 55 that they have already
scored this term to lead the table after a spectacular opening
period of the season.Nobody betters Ancelotti's average
Behind Ancelotti's average is that achieved by Frederick Pentland (2.9 goals) at the helm of Atlético and Athletic between 1928 and 1936. The third best is held by José Mourinho, under whose stewardship Real Madrid hit 2.86 per game during his three seasons with the club. The top trio are followed by Sampere (2.77) and Guardiola (2.71).
