The Real Madrid legend expects the Portuguese star to keep progressing and is sure he will set a new goals record for the club
The Madrid talisman has been in incredible form this term, scoring 30 goals in the 22 games he has played in all competitions for the club and is the favourite to win the 2014 Fifa Ballon d'Or ahead of Lionel Messi and Manuel Neuer.
And Raul believes the 29-year-old will grow into the best player of all time.
"I think now he is at the top, and if continues the same way, he could be the best of all time," he told the BBC World Football show. "I think Cristiano and Lionel Messi are two of the best players in the history of the game. Are they better than Pele or Diego Maradona?
"They are at the top, but I think it is difficult in football to say who is first or second or third. But if Cristiano continues for five years..."
Ronaldo scored his 200th Liga goal at the weekend and simultaneously broke the record for the most hat-tricks in the Spanish top flight with his 23rd treble and Raul believes he can even break his all-time club record goal record of 323.
"I am sure Ronaldo will beat it and I will be happy for him."
Madrid won the Champions League last season in coach Carlo Ancelotti's first season, currently sit top of La Liga and are on a 19 game winning streak and the New York Cosmos player insists a lot of it is down to the Italian tactician.
"I think Ancelotti is a great coach who has a great relationship with the players, but is also very demanding of them," he said.
"There is a good connection between the coach and that is why you are seeing these results and these performances."
