The coach insists his team must be constantly looking to evolve and improve and believes his side will not suffer any lack of motivation for the clash against Getafe
Luis Enrique says his Barcelona team will never be the finished product, insisting they must be in a constant state of evolution.
The Spanish side beat Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 on Wednesday to finish the Champions League group stage as pool winners - their eighth consecutive victory in all competitions.
Despite the resounding victory and the fact his side are just two points behind Real Madrid in La Liga, Luis Enrique insists his team must never believe they are perfect.
"A football team has to be in a permanent state of construction and evolution," he told reporters.
"There will never be a day when we will say that the team has given 100 per cent of itself. We have to be as unpredictable as possible, but also effective.
"Everything is important to me. If we get results is because we have played well. The most important thing is to have the ball in the opponent’s half."
The Blaugrana take on Getafe on Saturday and the coach maintains his players will not lack any motivation despite coming off the back of a huge win against the French champions in midweek.
"It's complicated. When you play in Europe against a team of that level and then return to the league it has all the necessary ingredients to be difficult.
"It’s not an easy stadium to visit, against a team that is extremely motivated. The message to the team is that we will encounter difficulties."
When asked if he would like to meet Juventus in the second round of the Champions League, the 44-year-old said he is prepared to face any opponent.
"It’s difficult to compare teams like Juventus today and before. Each has their distinctions.
"Conte’s Juve dominated and Allegri’s is doing well. As for the draw I prefer to wait and see but I’m sure it won’t be easy."
The coach was also asked about Barcelona's summer signing Douglas, who has made just two appearances in all competitions for the first team.
"Every player who arrives at a new club from a different continent needs time to adapt: some need a lot of time, some little and some don’t manage to adapt at all.
"We need Douglas to do the same thing here that he did at Sao Paulo. He is a player that gives us a lot of options."
