did not want the German because he would not have known how to fit him
into the European Champions' star-studded line-up
Reus is considered one of the most exciting attacking talents in world football and has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Signal Iduna Park, with Bayern Munich among those said to be interested in the 25-year-old, who is currently out of action with an ankle problem.
However, Tite says that he learned during a recent meeting with Ancelotti that Madrid have a long-held interest in Reus but that the Italian coach was more interested in strengthening his star-studded squad with a deep-lying midfielder such as Cruzeiro ace Lucas Silva.
"Ancelotti told me he wanted to sign Lucas Silva and asked if he could play in the same position as [Luka] Modric or [Toni] Kroos," the Brazilian trainer told Sport TV.
"But he said, 'My president does not hire defenders.' [Perez] wanted to bring in Reus but Ancelotti wondered where would put him."
Madrid allowed Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso to leaave the Santiago Bernabeu during the summer but bolstered their ranks by signing Kroos from Bayern Munich and paying a reported €80 million to prise James Rodriguez away from Monaco.
Last year, Los Blancos broke the world record for a transfer fee by persuading Tottenham to part company with Gareth Bale for an estimated €100 million.
