That was the first time I knew Alamieyeseigha. We formed groups in every local governments – two persons to sign petition to enable Alamieyeseigha to contest. But a late Chief Judge asked me and one person from Ogbia to sign the petition. Even though I was a civil servant, I signed the document. I was in the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission then. Of course, when he started his campaign, I joined.

Two friends die trying to stop a suicide bomber

Two young men who reportedly stopped an Isis suicide bomber entering a mosque in Saudi Arabia are being hailed as heroes after being killed when he blew himself up. 

The friends, named as Mohammed Hassan Ali bin Isa and Abdul-Jalil al-Arbash, died after reportedly turning the attacker away from the Imam Hussein mosque in Dammam yesterday. Eyewitnesses claim the man was disguised as a woman and tried to enter through a closed female entrance before going to the main gate, where the pair were manning a civilian checkpoint.

Breaking News: 50 killed as gunmen attack host communities of IDP camps in Benue

No fewer than 50 people were killed yesterday May 24th after armed men believed to be members of Fulani militia stormed Logo local government area of Benue State where some Internally Displaced Persons are being kept. The men reportedly shot and killed at will.

According to reports, the armed men destroyed churches, cars, houses, market places during their attack which lasted for about an hour. Iorza, Faga, Per and Ukura Villages in the local government area where the IDPs are taking refuge after fleeing their villages following attacks, were affected.

Spokesman of the Benue State Police Command, ASP Austin Ezeani while confirming the incident said he could not ascertain the number of casualties.

"Boko Haram invaded our town last night and killed many of our people and burnt more than half of the town. We all fled into the bush amid volleys of bullets and rockets. We lost many people in the attack because the gunmen overpowered the soldiers guarding the town,” he said

Blues legend, singer, songwriter and guitarist, B.B. King died yesterday May 14th at his home in Las Vegas. He was aged 89.

His lawyer said the Blues king, who won 15 Grammy awards, died peacefully in his sleep around 9.40pm yesterday. He had been battling diabetes-related ailments and high blood pressure for years.

Doctors in Nebraska prolonged the life of a brain dead woman for 54 days so she could deliver a baby boy named Angel.

Karla Perez, 22, died two days after the delivery, the Washington Post reported late Friday. Angel weighed just 2 pounds, 12.6 ounces at birth.
